Low carbon steel casting is one of the important investment casting production line in China. 

Low carbon steel, also called mild steel, is a kind of steel with percentage of carbon(C)≤0.25%. Strength of low carbon steel is soft and hardness is low. So, low carbon steel is also named soft steel. Castings made from low carbon steel are also with same characteristics as the low carbon steel. 

Low Carbon Steel Casting Characteristics

*Structure of low carbon steel castings are ferrite with small pearlite. The strength and hardness is low, but the plasticity and toughness are very good. 

*Due to the low percentage of carbon(C), the carbon equivalent is low. Thus, the low carbon steel castings are good for welding with other steel castings. But due to the low percentage of carbon(C), the machining property of the low carbon steel castings are not good. Usually, we need to normalize the low carbon steel castings and make it easy for machining.
